Prof. Diederik van de Beek

Diederik van de Beek, M.D., Ph.D., F.E.A.N., is Professor of Neurology at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers (UMC), Amsterdam, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He qualified in medicine at the University of Amsterdam in 1999 and specialized in neurology at the Academic Medical Center (2000 to 2006). In 2004, he successfully defended his thesis on bacterial meningitis in adults. After his postdoctoral time at the Mayo Clinics, Rochester, MN, he became leader of the neuroinfection and inflammation group in Amsterdam. He was appointed as scientific director of the Amsterdam Neuroscience Institute in 2016. His research focuses on neurological infections.
